Terrilyn Monette went missing in New Orleans in March this year, after leaving a very popular local bar. Her body has been discovered in a Louisiana bayou, ABC News reports.

She was in the driver’s seat, police confirm.

Since her disappearance, Monette’s family, based in Long Beach, California, made regular trips to New Orleans. Just recently, they asked that the FBI get in on the case in the hope they might still find their daughter alive.

According to ABC News, the bayou had already been searched once already, to no result. The family says they don’t understand how police could have missed the car and the body at the bottom of it.

Monette was just 26 years old and had just become a 2nd grade teacher at the Woodland West Elementary school in Jefferson Parish.
