Uwe Boll just won't go away

Fresh from luring journalists to the boxing ring, German director Uwe Boll is in the middle of filming his latest video game adaptation for Postal. According to 1UP, his next project will be Bloodrayne II: Deliverance, following the January 2006 movie release based on Majesco's vampire action game series. Actress Kristanna Loken undertakes her role as Bloodrayne, with the film being set in the Old West.

It appears Uwe Boll confirmed the news via email earlier this week. During the past few years he directed quite a number of movie adaptations after games like Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead. He is currently working on a film about Running With Scissors' Postal game series, an effort that actually fits his way of doing things: raw and beaten down to a bloody pulp. There are no more details available at the moment and we can only speculate if the original cast members will resume their part, since Michelle Rodriguez, Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen's characters died in the first movie. Although it was a game plot-breaking move, Uwe Boll had Kristanna Loken's Rayne having sex against a prison cell, thus anything is possible, including some peculiar vampiric resurrections.

Surprisingly enough, although his movies always presented a misfortunate Ed Wood-like quality, being full of cliches and gratuitous kitsch, one can't deny Uwe Boll the unbelievable proficiency at going forward. It's still a mystery how the director manages to get funding for future endeavors after spending over $20 million on the Bloodrayne adaptation alone, just to receive a measly $3 million from the box office cash in. Somebody up there must really like his style.
