Blogger has announced that the mobile templates it introduced late last year to Blogger in Draft are finally available to everyone. There are also 27 templates to choose from now, to make your blog a lot more readable on a mobile device. Even if you're not using a template, you can still enable support for smartphones to give your readers a better experience.

"A few months ago we introduced mobile templates to Blogger in Draft. Today, we’re excited to announce that not only will these templates be available to everyone, we’ll be supporting all 27 Template Designer templates," Jiho Han, Software Engineer at Blogger, wrote.

"We invite you to make your blog smartphone-friendly by going to the Dashboard > Settings > Email & Mobile tab and enabling the mobile template option," he explained how to enable the feature.

With the increasing use of mobile devices to browse the web, there is a need for websites catered to the specific requirements of these devices. Most big websites today have a version optimized for mobile phones and many have one specifically for smartphones.

It's nice to see Blogger following suit and enabling its users to have an alternative theme for their mobile readers. If you're using one of the themes from the Template Designer, you're all set, all you have to do is enable mobile support and you'll get a mobile version of your blog that follows the visual style of your regular one.

But even if you're not using a template, you can still get the benefit of a mobile theme, albeit the caveat that it will not look very similar to your blog.

The feature was initially launched in December last year, but only for those using the testing grounds version Blogger in Draft. Blogger has just introduced support for custom favicons for Draft users.
