Something new, something old and something black

Blogger is bringing the concept of steady evolution to the ground, much as Google is doing with almost all of the products it releases and features it implements. The good old days when there would be an official date for an update, or, in software, a patch that everybody would wait for, are dead and buried when it comes to the Mountain View-based company.

Google is rolling out every update as it is finished and every day you're most likely to be surprised finding something there that hasn't been before. Take Blogger in Draft for example: it has added late last week two new features that weren't announced: the Blog List and the Scheduled posts.

There's not much to think about, the names of the feats pretty much says it all, but they do have some particularities that should make them worth your while to read. First of all, the Blog List is not as simple as it sounds. It displays "a list of links to your favorite blogs, with an optional icon" and it can "show the date of the blog's last update or even the title and snippet of its most recent post," provided that the blog you've subscribed to has RSS or Atom feed.

On to the Scheduled Posts, the feature added last week allows you to program a post to be released at a given date. No need for complications there, but (there's always a but) the way they make you schedule the date of the post is a total bust. There's only double digits involved with displaying the year, so if it's 1999 or 2099 or even 8599, you'll only be seeing xx/xx/99. A bit more work on that, if they haven't moved on to develop the next feat, would be extremely welcomed.

That being said and done, blog like there's no tomorrow! That means forever strive to better your written work.
