It looks like the game won't make it to your PC this year

Word on the street is that StarCraft II isn't surfacing this year on the PC. Not that it would surface on any other platform either. By the looks and sound of it, it's no rumor either, but a given, coming straight from Blizzard's mouth. Hear this:

"The only thing I can give you [that's] concrete is it's not going to be this year. Some people were hoping, because of how advanced the game looks, that we'd have it out by Christmas, but that's definitely not happening." These are the words of Blizzard's vice president of game design, Rob Pardo, smashing every hope that Starcraft II would be released this year, as Fudzilla reports.

According to their buddies over at Gamespot, Pardo also made few other hints about Blizzard's future, such as that the 40 developers working on Starcraft II are "one of the smaller teams." What? How many developers does it take to make a next-gen RTS such as Starcraft II?

Anyway, early job listings on Blizzard's official site indicated that the developer's following title would be a "next generation MMO", but certainly not another World of Warcraft installment. The current one still has a lot more to do for addicted gamers. However, a much more appealing rumor has surfaced over the Internet - that a Diablo III title is in the works in Blizzard's basement, while Blizzard ain't saying jack.

Everyone can guess where the confusion came from though. When Blizzard not only announced Starcraft II in Korea, but also showed off some pretty impressive gameplay footage, people were convinced that the developer was just about ready with the title. Have you seen it? It looks gorgeous, not to mention that the "screenplay" is the work of a genius.

Oh well, guess it's early 2008 the soonest we'll see Starcraft II. And there was so much stuff that could feed rumors with... A pity.
