The development team at Blizzard says that it does not have a long-term plan for Diablo 3 at the moment and that it only has a clear set of smaller changes that will be implemented via patches after the launch of Reaper of Souls.

Alex Mayberry, the lead producer working on the action role-playing game title, tells VideoGamer that he is interested in first seeing how the player community reacts to the new experience before deciding what is next.

He explains that, "Every time you finish a game there are things that you didn’t get in that you wanted to get it, so there are a handful of things that we’re still looking for post-launch updates that we definitely want to make sure go in. Other than those things we want to see the community reaction, we want feedback."

Based on how the community reacts, the team at Blizzard has plans to introduce small tweaks and changes to further refine gameplay and better balance Diablo 3.

Since the patch 2.0.1 for the game was launched, changing the core loot system and adding the second full version of the Paragon concept, the company has introduced two smaller updates in order to tweak the main mechanics.

Mayberry adds, "we’ve done our short-term planning but this is months, not years. Now that we’ve got some short-term planning done we’re looking at the long view – what are we doing in the years to come with the franchise – and that’s all kind of up in the air right now."

The company will surely also evaluate the actual sales numbers for Reaper of Souls and will take that into account when deciding the future of Diablo 3.

The fan community has not yet decided whether it would like to see more expansions launched for the title or whether an entire new Diablo experience is more appealing.

Reaper of Souls is set to be launched all over the world in the coming 24-hour period and is designed to bring a wealth of new content.

The new Crusader class will introduce an entirely new way of approaching the game, with powers and skills that can take out powerful enemies.

Act V is filled with interesting quests, which expand the core game lore, enemies, designed to drop new sets of loot that will appeal to all players, and bosses that will challenge the most capable gamers.
