A blind and disabled man has been able to reach a speed of 167.1mph (269kph) on a motorcycle. Stuart Gunn broke the world record for bike riding for people with disabilities.

Metro documents that the previous record stands at 164mph (264kph) and it has been reached at Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire.

Gunn, of Edinburgh, is helped by his father with navigating the motorcycle. Geoff tells him when and where he needs to turn or stop.

“I hope this proves to people that just because you are blind or have a disability, doesn’t mean it should change or limit your life,” Stuart says.

The 39-year-old rider was in an accident in 2002, and he incurred a paralysis to the right side of his body, including losing the ability to use his right arm. He has since partly recovered and he is able to steer the bike.
