Blancspot Media has just announced that its popular Blancspot News application for Apple iOS has been ported on the Android platform.

The interactive news application is a news aggregator that provides users with a cinematic view of global events on their Android smartphones, while on the move.

The application was especially designed to offer users a quick, but entertaining taste on the day's top stories.

The developer also introduces a social networking side and goes beyond reporting the news to offer users a simple and engaging framework where they can connect with their communities and get involved in topics that interest them.

We created Blancspot to offer a news experience that is socially relevant to young adults who are looking to engage with a more creative and positive way to consume and share media,” said Founder and CEO, Camille LeBlanc.

Blancspot Media hopes to hit big with the new application for Android devices, just as it did with the Apple iOS version.

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that within days of its initial launch on the Apple platform, Blancspot Media was awarded App of the Week worldwide, Top Trends 2010 by Apple.

Furthermore, the iPad version ranked within the top 5 in 26 countries and was nominated Startup of the Year by Business Insider.

The global reach of Blancspot Media over the course of the year and the extent to which kids flip over a news service that inspires them to engage, discover and act has been exciting to see. We believe this is an underserved group, one that grew up in fundamentally different ways than the average news consumer and they are seeking a fundamentally different experience when learning about the world,” added LeBlanc.

Blancspot News: The Art of Now is now available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 or up.
