Blake Shelton and Shakira met on the set of the television talent show “The Voice,” where they both act as judges. Apparently, the two singers have hit it off, and now Shelton is reported to write and perform a song with Shakira on her latest album.

The news comes straight from the horse's mouth (no pun intended), as Shakira posted on her Twitter account a photo of her with Blake in the studio. The photo bears the caption “In the studio cookin up something good with my friend @blakeshelton. He says please don't cut him out of the picture!”

Speaking of the song, Shakira described it as a “country, folk song,” which is a bit of stretch for the Latin singer. After her stunning duet with Caribbean hottie Rihanna, Shakira now looks set to tap deeper into the American market with a country song.

Blake and Shakira are said to be getting along famously, despite initial fears that the replacement of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green on “The Voice” was going to cause some friction within the show.

A release date for the upcoming song hasn't been made public yet.
