Blake Lively shot to fame in 2007, when “Gossip Girl” started its very successful 6-season run. The show has been off the air since December 2012, but to many fans, Blake will always be the evil, fashionable, mean, sassy and occasionally nice Serena van der Woodsen.

The thing is, Blake would rather they didn’t remember her this way. The new mom (and wife to actor Ryan Reynolds) is featured in the May 2015 issue of Allure magazine to promote the upcoming drama “The Age of Adaline,” about a woman who never grows old.

Speaking of her career so far, Blake says that she “always” found the TV show that launched her and made her into an international star “a little personally compromising.” Again, this is the show that turned her into more than just a celebrity: because of Serena, Blake became a fashion girl and a beauty icon, a fixture on all red carpets and the party scene.

Yes, she owes everything she has today to Serena. But if she had the choice to go back, she would probably not do it again.

“You want to be putting a better message out there. The lines become blurred. It doesn’t help when everybody is dating who they’re dating on the show, and you’re also saying to the costume designer, ‘Hey, can I take that home?’ It’s a weird thing when people feel like they know you really well, and they don’t,” the actress explains.

Then again, work is work, and when you’re trying to break into the industry, you don’t really get to pick and choose which roles you take. Trash-talking the project that helped you become who you are today in the industry is very unprofessional and unnecessary, does it not?
