“Gossip Girl” stunner Blake Lively can now be seen in the drama “The Town.” In the latest issue of Allure magazine, the fashionista talks about her career, her aspirations and her biggest fears.

The film is directed by Ben Affleck and sees Blake in a role that is completely different from the image she’s built for herself, since she plays the lover with questionable morals of a bank robber and criminal (Affleck himself).

Though many of her fans will probably be surprised by her part, Blake says she wanted it badly. Not only that, but she actually went out of her way to land it.

The actress, who has said in the past she wanted to use her “Gossip Girl” fame as a launching platform that would help her expand her horizons, reveals she knew from the start “The Town” would be the film to help her do that.

“This part was originally supposed to be for a 37-year-old woman – she’s a mother – but when I read the script, I knew I had to have the part,” the actress says.

Consequently, she did everything in her power to get it. “It was selfish of me. I worried I would ruin it for other people. But I had to try it,” Blake explains.

Although she wanted the part like no other before in her career, that doesn’t mean the transition from small to big screen was an easy one or that she wasn’t nervous in front of the camera.

“You make your mistakes on a bigger screen for everyone to see. I’d look at what we shot on a day and it was like, ‘Oh, gosh, I’m terrible’,” Blake says.

She’s convinced she will one day succeed in making people say she’s more than just a pretty face and a self-styled fashion icon. Still, she wants more from life than just a career in the movies.

“I want to have a brunch place, a bakery, and a Southern restaurant – because my family’s from Georgia – and then I want a place that is all-over-the-world cuisine,” she says of her dreams.

She also wants children – “I want babies. Lots of babies. Of course!”

“I take a cooking class everywhere I travel. I find it’s the best way to get to know a culture. It’s what people bring to the family every day, what they break bread over – it’s a very intimate thing,” the actress adds.

Aside from Lively, “The Town” also stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall, and will be released in US theaters on September 17.
