The current version will only receive bug fixes

A sequel for Blacklight: Tango Down has been announced by the chief executive officer of Zombie, Mark Long. Apparently, the recently launched online first person shooter proved to be quite a success and prompted a sequel from the independent developer. The low price of the game, that is 15 dollars, seems to have attracted quite a crowd, as well as the fact that it is present on all three next generation platforms.

Mark Long told Big Download that there would be no more downloadable content for Blacklight: Tango Down, but only patches meant to fix bug and game balance issues. The sequel will feature big improvements to the original title like larger maps and controllable mech vehicles. Zombie is hoping to see Blacklight: Tango Down released in the summer of 2011, according to Mark Long.

This is quite a surprise announcement considering this game was launched last week on the Xbox Live Arcade and only today on the PC. A PlayStation Network version is set to arrive at a later date.  Blacklight: Tango Down has received tepid reviews because of the weapons balance issues and the fixed spawning points that give some teams in certain contexts unfair advantages, but despite of this it has gathered an impressive following on the Internet.

Blacklight: Tango Down is an online first person shooter with an experience system similar to what Infinity Ward has introduced with the first Modern Warfare and has become since the norm in the industry for multiplayer action games. The title has a level cap of 70 and is very flexible in terms of weapon customization. One of the features that is designed to make Blacklight: Tango Down stand out of the crowd is the Hyper Reality Visor which allows players to see through walls and other pieces of scenery. This can be countered, though, through the judicious use of digi-grenades that block this ability.
