Zombie Studios has confirmed that a brand new update for Blacklight Retribution on the PS4 has just gone live, bringing many improvements for the game but also plenty of fresh content like the Onslaught cooperative mode, two new multiplayer maps, and other such things.

The PS4 was released last November, and quite a few different free-to-play games were launched at the same time, including Blacklight Retribution from Zombie Studios, which is currently available in the form of a beta stage.

Zombie Studios has kept improving the experience while adding new things, and now a major update has just gone live on the PS4 platform.

The new patch brings quite a few additions to the game, including the cooperative Onslaught mode, which allows up to four players to take on waves of infected enemies. The online experience emphasizes teamwork and makes sure that your defenses withstand the hordes of opponents.

"Each wave and enemy type will force you to adapt as the threat changes. If you bank too heavily on fortifying one area, you might find yourself overrun. But if you remain too light and mobile, you may not have the heavy firepower you need to punch through what comes next. Rely on your wits and gear to see you through it. Those who find a way to succeed will be rewarded for their efforts," the developer said on the PS blog.

Two brand new multiplayer maps are also included in the update, in the form of Decay and Metro. Decay presents a rundown slum fortress with vertical gameplay on many different levels, while Metro, like its name suggests, features an abandoned subway station filled with narrow corridors.

The update also brings the possibility of setting up private matches for a limited number of players, so that you don't have to deal with the public encounters.

Zombie has also emphasized that it made several improvements to the game's matchmaking system, so that players will find fun games to play in a faster and smoother manner. Better host migration and selection mechanics were also added, as well as the groundwork for future improvements.

Last but not least, the developer has also promised that, after applying the update, players will notice more improvements in terms of framerate, loading speed, and a better overall experience.

Those who encounter problems and have suggestions for the team are asked to get in touch and share their feedback, as the studio is always listening.
