In addition to making the BlackBerry PlayBook cheaper for the holiday season and bringing it for free to customers in the Enterprise area, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is also delivering a new software for the device.

The handset vendor has just started to roll-out the new Tablet OS v1.0.8.4985 to Blackberry PlayBook devices out there, with a nice range of enhancements inside.

The new software weighs in at 95MB and brings along, among other features, new flavors of the Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR.

“PlayBook update 1.0.8.4985 is here. Brings Flash and bug fixes. Should help with any WiFi issues too! Only 95MB differential update,” RIM’s Michael Clewley notes in a recent tweet.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Adobe announced a few weeks ago that it will discontinue the development of Flash for mobile devices, but that it will continue offering support for it.

The new Adobe Flash Player version 11.1 that was included in the said OS upgrade might be one of the latest updates that the technology will see on RIM’s PlayBook.

Of course, RIM already committed to supporting Flash on its devices, but only security enhancements and fixes will be delivered from now on.

The release notes for the new Tablet OS v1.0.8.4985 reportedly include: - Updated version of Adobe Flash Player version 11.1 and Adobe AIR 3.1 - Daylight savings time updates for time zones in the regions of Latin America, Australia and Central America - Updated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi software to help to improve connectivity - Fixed issues some users were experiencing with account payments in the BlackBerry App World storefront - Improved synching when restoring applications with BlackBerry Desktop Software - This update also includes a security update for Adobe Flash Player, as noted in Adobe Security Bulletin APSB-11-28, which addresses issues that can potentially affect any PC, tablet, or other device with an operating system that supports Adobe Flash.
