BlackBerry is apparently prepping a new high-end phone

Canadian company BlackBerry was also present at MWC 2015 this week, where it unveiled the security-focused BlackBerry Leap mid-ranger.

While this phone is nothing out of the ordinary, BlackBerry also teased a more interesting, mystery device. They only showed it for a few seconds during a presentation, but it was enough for us to realize we’re dealing with a slider product of sorts.

No details have been revealed about the upcoming product, except that the phone will feature a dual curved display (is the industry going nutty over the dual edged scenario?) and will be made available in black and white versions.

Meet the BlackBerry Glide

While the device was shown to the public for less than 10 seconds, it already managed to work up the imagination of some BlackBerry enthusiasts. The folks at BlackBerry Central, for example, have produced a bunch of renders which they called the BlackBerry Glide.

They also imagined the kind of specifications BlackBerry might want to include into a product such as the Glide.

The model is envisioned as a high-end handset coming with a dual-edge QHD LCD display and a pretty chunky 3650 mAh non-removable battery, which should sustain a prolonged life cycle on the device.

We’re also being told the slider would have a 16MP dual LED flash camera as its main shooter. We’re left in the dark regarding processor power, but it would be remarkable if BlackBerry ended up choosing a Snapdragon 810 for this product.

The concept also envisions the slider as having a 35-key slide-out keyboard (backlight, touch-capacitive) and dual stereo speakers.

Hopefully, BlackBerry will soon unveil the mysterious product it briefly teased at MWC 2015 and we’ll be able to know more about it.

The company hasn't confirmed whether the model will be a high-end product or a mid-range one, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the first scenario to pull through.

BlackBerry’s latest handset, the Leap, offers average specs. It arrives with a 5-inch HD display (720p resolution) and 294 ppi. Under the hood rests a pretty outdated Snapdragon S4 Plus chip (takes advantage of 1.5GHz dual-core Krait CPU) fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

But BlackBerry can do better, much better. Would you be interested in something in the vein of the BlackBerry Glide?
