BlackBerry Z10, the first smartphone to arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry 10 operating system loaded on top, is now available for purchase through Amazon for only $99 with the signing of a contract agreement with AT&T or Verizon.

The smartphone was made available for purchase through these wireless carriers several weeks ago with a price tag of $199 attached to it, and still features this cost at both of them.

However, those who would like to grab the handsets on contract can now opt for the more appealing deal that Amazon has in store for them, as thedroidguy notes.

The AT&T flavor of the device can be seen on this page at the retailer, while Verizon’s model is available here and here, in Black and White colors, respectively.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the white BlackBerry Z10 was launched exclusively on the network of Verizon Wireless.

BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone also sports 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and landed on shelves at both AT&T and Verizon with support for 4G LTE connectivity.

The phone’s specs list includes Wireless-N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC capabilities, built-in GPS receiver, the usual set of sensors, and a battery that can deliver up to 10 hours of usage time.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording capabilities, as well as a 2MP front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

As mentioned above, the handset arrives on shelves with the new BlackBerry 10 OS loaded on top, which delivers a variety of enhancements and new features when compared to the previous platform releases from BlackBerry.

“The new BlackBerry Hub allows you to peek at your inbox from any app without having to stop what you're doing,” Amazon notes on the matter.

“The touchscreen BlackBerry Keyboard learns your writing style and suggests words to help you type faster, more accurately. And you'll be able to share content and apps right from your device using BBM Video with Screen Share.”
