BlackBerry Torch 9850, the latest touch-enabled smartphone from Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, is on its way to Verizon Wireless' shelves, and should become available for purchase on September 8th on the carrier's website.

The company also announced that the new device will be released via all channels, including the Verizon Wireless Communications Stores around the country, starting with September 15th.

The new device comes to the market with the largest touchscreen display that any other BlackBerry smartphone includes, measuring 3.7-inches.

The new device comes to the market with RIM's BlackBerry 7 OS on board, and offers fast Internet navigation, with optimized zooming, panning and HTML 5 performance, as well as increased performance levels when compared to the previous platform releases from RIM.

Moreover, the new device is capable of offering users the possibility to keep their personal and work lives separated on the same device through the BlackBerry Balance technology RIM integrated into its new OS.

“BlackBerry Balance is now integrated, allowing secure access to business information while preventing it from being copied into, sent from or used by personal applications. Customers can stay connected to their personal and business lives while in or out of the office,” the company explained.

The new mobile phone also comes with a 1.2 GHz application processor inside, complemented by 8GB of internal memory and support for up to 32GB more via microSD memory card slot.

The new BlackBerry device also comes with Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and built-in GPS receiver, as well as with support for global connectivity.

According to Verizon, the new device comes with “Quad band with support for UMTS, HSPA, GSM, GPRS and EDGE allowing customers to enjoy wireless voice and data service in more than 200 countries, including more than 95 with 3G speeds.”

The new BlackBerry Torch 9850 sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with flash and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

On September 8th, the new mobile phone will become available for purchase for $199.99 with the signing of a two-year customer agreement.

“Customers that purchase a BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 for monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data,” the wireless carrier explains.
