Available from £30 per month, or £449.99 on Pay As You Go

Three UK, the first European carrier to confirm some of the next generation BlackBerry 7 smartphones unveiled by Research in Motion back in August, has just announced the availability of the BlackBerry Torch 9810.

Customers can obtain the Torch 9810 for free with a new two-year Text 500 plan at £30 per month, which offers users 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and 1GB of data.

In addition, customers can choose The One Plan at £37 per month, which nets them 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts, 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes and All-you-can-eat data.

Those who want to avoid being tied with a long term contract can purchase the Torch 9810 on PAYG (pay as you go) for £449.99 (about €517 or $700), but they are required to choose a £10 or £15 add-on.

RIM's BlackBerry Torch 9800 follow-up, the Torch 9810 is a big step forward in terms of performance and functionality.

The smartphone is equipped with a single core 1.2GHz processor and packs 8GB of internal memory, 768MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

With BlackBerry 7 operating system on board, Torch 9810 is faster and offers users a more fluid multimedia experience.

Although the phone features a slider form factor, Torch 9810 includes the standard BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard, along with an optical trackpad and multi-touch input method.

In this regard, the smartphone comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 16 million colors display and 480 x 640 pixels resolution.

A 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD video recording capabilities (720p) is included on the back.

According to RIM, the handset's 1270 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 308 hours (300 hours for 3G mode) of standby time or up to 6 hours and 30 minutes (6 hours for 3G mode) of talk time.
