Although it has been reiterated before, if there was any doubt, BlackBerry Q10 is indeed coming to Canada next month, the company’s CEO has confirmed today.

During the BlackBerry Q4 conference call, Thorsten Heins confirmed that the company’s second BlackBerry 10 smartphone would arrive in Canada in April.

According to MobileSyrup, Heins has added that BlackBerry Q10 is currently being tested by 40 carriers in 20 countries. Hopefully, the Q10 will be launched in more than 20 countries by the end of the year.

Unlike its Z10 full-touch sibling, BlackBerry Q10 comes equipped with an unusual 3.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 720 pixels resolution.

Another selling point of the phone might be the fact that it sports a traditional QWERTY keyboard. This should be the main reason that a BlackBerry fan might not to pick the full-touch BlackBerry Z10 yet.

Aside from the fact that it comes with the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, the Q10 also offers plenty of hardware improvements over its BlackBerry 7 predecessors.

First of all, the Q10 features a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4470 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The phone packs 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

There’s also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p at 30fps) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

BlackBerry Q10 is powered by a 2,100 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 10 hours of talk time. Other highlights of the phone include: HSDPA and HSUPA support, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS and HDMI port.

The Q10 will be available in Canada from all major carriers across the country, but we can safely assume that many smaller mobile operators will add it to their portfolios as well.
