A new flavor of the popular BlackBerry Messenger is now available for download via the BlackBerry App World for all those fond of the application, namely BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.2.12. Apparently, specific info on what the new version of the application includes did not emerge for the time being, and the update does not appear for all users out there either.

According to some, either the app was updated to another version, or it was already available on their devices in a higher flavor via the Beta Zone.

However, the guys over at CrackBerry report that the new flavor of the application was added to the App World, and that users should head over there to download and install it on their devices.

According to them, all those who have problems with seeing the update should ALT + RST.

Usually, RIM pushes bug fixes and new features via this type of software updates, and this is what the new version of the software is expected to include too.

“Get into BlackBerry Messenger and express yourself – your way. Share your pin or unique barcode to connect with friends anywhere, anytime,” RIM describes the application.

“Take comfort in knowing your friends are only a BlackBerry Messenger message away whether you want to make plans for the night or ask a quick question.

“Chat and share funny stories, pictures, videos and more with individual contacts or groups of friends instantly. Stay in touch like never before with BlackBerry Messenger.”

The application is available only for BlackBerry devices at the moment, but RIM promised it for more mobile platforms out there too in the near future, including Android and iOS.

Through that release, RIM is set to make the BBM available for a wide range of users, further expanding the reach of its service, and offering an alternative to other IM services out there.
