Available both for Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has just released the Service Pack 1 for its BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 for Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino. The new release comes around with a series of fixes and improvements for the BES 5.0 solution, which has been launched into the wild back at WES 2009.

The release notes for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 Service Pack 1 includes the following (both for Microsoft Exchange and for IBM Lotus Domino): BlackBerry device dashboard Changes to the BlackBerry Configuration Database schema Changes to the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service Database component page in the BlackBerry Monitoring Service DSML support Enhancements to the BlackBerry Administration Service Enhancements to the BlackBerry Monitoring Service home page Enhancements to the user creation process in the BlackBerry Administration Service Enhancements to the calendar synchronization process Improved log file information so that you can troubleshoot issues with the BlackBerry Attachment Service Language support (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese) Microsoft Active Directory authentication with a Microsoft Exchange resource forest New administrative permissions New IT policy rules Support for importing Wi-Fi and VPN profiles from a .csv file Support for Microsoft Exchange Web Services Support for .odp files and .ods files on BlackBerry devices Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Support for notification messages over HTTPS for BlackBerry MDS Runtime Applications Support for Windows Internet Explorer version 8

According to BlackBerryCool, a series of enterprise users chose not to make the upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 when RIM made it available, saying that they would rather wait for the Service Pack 1 to arrive so as to make sure that any possible problems have been already discovered and dealt with.
