Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has announced the release of its new BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone on the market in Singapore, adding it to the popular line of Curve devices it already released in the country.

The new BlackBerry Curve 3G (model 9300) comes with familiar design, with a full-QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad on the front, and with powerful smartphone capabilities, including support for 3G networks, the company announced.

The new device packs high-speed 3G (HSDPA) connectivity options, as well as enhanced communication features, enabling users to stay connected at all times with what matters the most for them.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G is both an accessible and feature-rich smartphone, which will be popular with customers in Singapore who highly value communications and productivity tools that help them get ahead of their day,” Gregory Wade, Managing Director, South East Asia, RIM, stated.

“With the ability to connect to 3G and Wi-Fi networks, users can access information and communicate quickly with the people that matter most, as well as take advantage of useful features like built-in GPS to share their location on BBM and social networking sites.”

The BlackBerry Curve 3G comes to shelves with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as with a photo snapper with video recording capabilities, and with streaming functionality.

The mobile phone includes a microSD/SDHC memory card slot with support for up to 322GB of additional storage space, as well as media player and more.

“Support for 3G networks makes browsing faster, streaming music smoother, and gives users the ability to talk on the phone while they browse the web or instant message with BBM (BlackBerry Messenger),” RIM announced.

On top of that, the new device comes with support for the BlackBerry 6 OS from the company, even if it ships on the market with BlackBerry 5 on board.

RIM notes that the new OS “retains the trusted features that distinguish the BlackBerry brand while delivering a fresh and engaging experience that is both powerful and easy to use.”

BlackBerry 6 should arrive on Curve 3G on the market in the coming months, depending on carriers and country.

The new BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone (model 9300) should be put on sale in Singapore in the coming weeks.
