The smartphone might not come out until October

AT&T, the first (and possibly the only) US mobile carrier to offer RIM's BlackBery Bold across the States, still hasn't come up with an official release date for the smartphone. This, although the Bold's arrival via the blue carrier was confirmed since the beginning of June. Moreover, an AT&T official Bold web page is online (saying that the handset "is expected to be available later this year").

Recently, two totally different release dates for the Bold have appeared on the Web. According to Gizmodo, AT&T is ready to start selling the high-end device as of September 12, for $299 with a two-year contract agreement. If we were to believe the info found at Boy Genius Report, though, the Bold will be available only starting October 2. Both sites are saying they have the info from inside AT&T sources.

Initially said to hit the shelves in July, then in August, it's now somehow clear that US users who are eagerly waiting for the Bold will not see it too soon. Sure, the September 12 release date is not quite far, but as long as neither AT&T nor RIM confirms it, BlackBerry fans from the US had better be skeptical about it.

Anyway, BlackBerry Bold is not at its first "delay", as Canada has been expecting it since July too, but Rogers has launched the handset only about one week ago (for 599 CAD free of contract, or 399 CAD with a contract).

Until the Bold is out in the US though, you might want to check out AT&T's brand new MOTO Q Global – it doesn't have all the features of the BlackBerry smartphone, but it comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 on board and a cool silver case. Or, you might want to wait for Verizon's BlackBerry Storm, which should also be released sometime in the next few months.
