Expected to be officially announced on August 3, the BlackBerry 9800 Slider has already emerged with a pre-order status attached to it on an online retailer's website. $699.99 is the price at which MobileCity Online says that the upcoming device would become available, though it touts their offering as being $100 less. Basically, United States mobile phone users interested in the purchase of this device with AT&T connectivity should be able to do so for $599.99 at the retailer.

The BlackBerry 9800 is expected to be officially announced only next Tuesday during an event at which AT&T would be present too. The first sliding device from Research In Motion is expected to bring forth not only a sliding QWERTY keyboard complemented by a touchscreen display, but also the new BlackBerry 6 operating system, along with other appealing features.

Although the mobile phone made it to the headlines quite a few times before, little is known in regard to its exact hardware specifications. If we're to believe the specs listed over at MobileCity Online, we should expect for the upcoming BlackBerry device to arrive with a 3.2-inch HVGA display, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage (support for 16GB microSD cards via memory card slot), A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11n, a photo snapper on the back, Bluetooth capabilities, as well as support for Quad-Band 850/900/1800/1900, and for HSDPA 850 / 1900 networks.

According to the online retailer, the BlackBerry 9800 package would include the following: BlackBerry Slider 9800 Smartphone AT&T US Version, AC travel charger, Standard battery (most probably Li-Ion 1050 mAh), Carry case, USB data cable, Sync software and User manual. The company also says that the handset is accompanied by a “1 Year AT&T Wireless warranty from date of purchase for AT&T Wireless US customers only.”

What cannot be found on that pre-order page for the BlackBerry 9800 for AT&T is an expected shipping date. When it comes to the handset's status, MobileCity Online notes the following: “Rumored. Exp. release 2010, 2Q.” I guess we'll still have to wait for August 3 to arrive to learn all the necessary info on this.
