The new firmware brings various improvements, bug fixes

Australian mobile phone carrier Vodafone has just announced the availability of a new software update for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 smartphone available on its airwaves.

The mobile phone was made available for purchase only recently with the new BlackBerry 7 OS on board, and the new update is only a maintenance firmware aimed at offering a better experience for users.

“The BlackBerry 7.0 maintenance software release for the BlackBerry 9360 is now available to install via your PC Sync,” the wireless carrier notes on its blog.

Following the update, the smartphone will run under software version 7.0.0.474, while featuring Baseband Version 8.0.0.469. The Build Number in the new update is Bundle 2088.

As stated above, the new software update is meant to deliver a series of performance enhancements to customers, along with a series of fixes, all aimed at resulting in a better experience for all users.

The release notes for the new software update include:

1. Enhancement of core BlackBerry features including: a) Video playback performance b) Audio playback performance c) Camera capture reliability d) Device themes 2. And bug fixes including; a) Captured image orientation b) Overlapping text in email c) Other minor issues 3. Enhancement of Battery life 4. Various localization and translation fixes.

The new software update can be downloaded either over the air or via a desktop PC by using the BlackBerry desktop software. Users will have to connect their BlackBerry 9360 to the PC via a USB cable.

The BlackBerry Desktop Manager, which is available for download from Softpedia here, will prompt users with specific info on what they need to do to perform the update.

Before proceeding with the update, users should also make sure that the battery inside the device is fully loaded. Moreover, they should perform a backup of their personal files on the handset to make sure that no important info is lost.
