Intuit, Inc., a company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, has just announced the compatibility of QuickBooks Online with Apple's iPhone and RIM's BlackBerry smartphones.

Presented as a top "Web-based small business accounting software", QuickBooks Online should allow you to do the following:

- check your bank and credit card balance;

- find vendor/customer contact info (addresses included) through Google Maps;

- run balance sheet as well as profit/loss reports;

- track who owes you money or who you owe.

According to Intuit, more than 130,000 small businesses are subscribers of QuickBooks Online, and they all have now greater freedom when it comes to managing their accounts, since they can do it from more mobile devices.

Talking about the extended compatibility of QuickBooks Online, Rick Jensen, Senior VP of Intuit's Small Business Division, declared, "A growing number of small businesses are looking to mobile technology to run their business. Our goal with these new mobile services is to give QuickBooks Online users the edge they need to compete and manage their busy lives by keeping tabs on their business even when they are out of the office".

"QuickBooks Online is perfect for us as there is no 'office', just volunteer member parents working from various home or work offices. Given the virtual nature of our interactions, iPhone support helps us be more productive. While waiting for an appointment, I was able to check QuickBooks Online using my iPhone to look up parents with open balances and send them an e-mail reminder to pay their bill," said Laura Olcott, a QuickBooks Online user and treasurer for Twin Cities Co-op Preschool in Corte Madera, California.

Customers can subscribe to QuickBooks Online on its official website, found at this address, for $9.95 per month. The usage of QuickBooks Online via an iPhone of a BlackBerry is free for those who have already subscribed to the service.

The QuickBooks Online apps for iPhone and BlackBerry can be found on Intuit's website.
