Call of Duty: Black Ops II is still some time from launch, but the team working on the game says that it is balancing the campaign, the competitive multiplayer side and the cooperative zombie mode, in order to offer a different experience for the needs of a wide variety of gamers.

Mark Lamia, who is the leader of the development team working on Black Ops II at Treyarch, told Kotaku that “Those all cater to different emotional states. When you’re playing the campaign, you’re sitting down to have that sort of epic and cinematic experience, right? You want to have that first-person role in that experience.”

He added, “But multiplayer is all about that competitive and social experience. We want to create a campaign. We have a whole team that’s focused on creating the campaign. It’s what we do. It’s what we want to create. We want to create a campaign, multiplayer and zombies.”

It’s not clear whether the three separate game modes get the same amount of resources from the development team at Treyarch.

Traditionally, the Call of Duty series has been known for its high quality single-player campaign, which takes players on a rollercoaster ride through various over-the-top situations and allows them to perform some heroic deeds.

Since the first Modern Warfare launch, the series has also become known for its multiplayer modes, which introduces progression and a variety of experiences.

In addition to single and multiplayer, Treyarch has introduced the zombie based gameplay to its installments, while Infinity Ward concentrated in creating Spec Ops missions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be launched on November 13 of this year on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 and will tell the story of a hacker who takes control of the drone and robotic forces of the United States in the future.
