The fight against the BitTorrent services, which have been accused for distributing or for supporting the distribution of pirated content, made a new victim. Demonoid, the BitTorrent service that was first closed in November, is still unavailable and it seems that a resurrection is not yet possible. In case you missed the news, Demonoid was first closed on November 9th, after many similar websites had been shut down due to an impressive action started by the authorities. According to a message posted on the old Demonoid page, the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) won the battle with the BitTorrent service and closed the website.

"The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding", the message posted on the page reads.

"We have brought online a forum in order to help the community stay together. This forum is not file sharing related in any way, it's just a mean to help the community stay together - please read the forum rules before posting."

But, the battle against BitTorrent services is far from being ended. There were a lot of websites that shut down, while others may see their end very soon. Meanwhile, other technologies struggle to exist and fight with the authorities supporting their cause. TorrentSpy is the best example, because it was the first product criticized by the authorities. Moreover, the investigators demanded TorrentSpy to provide private details about the users who accessed the page.

At that time, TorrentSpy quickly rejected the demand and said that it will never provide sensitive information about its members as the internal guidelines prohibit them from doing this. In order to avoid being forced by the US court to reveal the details, TorrentSpy blocked the US access to the page, so it is currently available only for the non-US users.
