Phenom used to be the name of AMD's high-end central processing unit series, but now that it has dropped the brand, BitFenix must have figured it was open season.
Phenom, an obvious pun on “phenomenal,” is currently composed of two desktop enclosures: the Phenom Mini-ITX and Phenom Micro-ATX.
Their names make it pretty much clear what the difference is: the size and, consequently, the type of motherboards supported.
Phenom Mini-ITX can fit thick radiators up to 240 mm in length, five 3.5-inch HDDs/SSDs, graphics cards of 330 mm / 12.99 inches (if the FlexCage with those drive bays is removed) and one 5.25-inch bay that can turn into a 3.5-inch bay via special adapter.
For that matter, special adapters can turn all the drive bays into 11 SSD trays (2.5-inch).
Phenom Micro-ATX is much the same, but with five PCIe slots, seven 3.5-inch bays and extra cooling space.
Sales for both will start next month (October 2013), but prices are under wraps.
