New build available via automatic updates

The third build of the new BitDefender Total Security 2010 was announced by the security company as having been released already to the users. According to our information this should be the third and final beta of the product before the release of the final version.

BitDefender Total Security 2010 Beta 3 does not benefit from a standalone kit just yet and users should be receiving it via the automatic updates function in the suite. For those with the first and second beta installed on their machines the updates should have hit since June 18th, for both Windows Vista and Windows 7. Once the update process completes the version in the “About” section should read Build “13.0.12.”

If you decide to install Total Security 2010 from BitDefender, you can start by installing the Beta 2 and use the automatic updates in order to get the third beta on your system. The application should be pretty much stable right now, but I suggest using it with care at least until the final release rolls out.

We have no official word on the date of this final release, yet, but based on the launch dates of the three betas, we can speculate that the final edition should pop up somewhere at the beginning of July. And if you want a more specific date, July 1st or 2nd should be quite an accurate guess, based on the fact that each beta was ejected on Wednesday (save for the last one, which was issued on Thursday): first beta came out on the 29th of April (Wednesday), the second hit the users on the 27th of May and the third rolled on the 18th of June (Thursday).

BitDefender Total Security 2010 introduces a new interface for the product as well as split configuration to suit the main three categories of users: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. The protection it brings to your computer consists in a complete suite of security tools (antivirus, anti-spyware, antispam, anti-phishing and firewall) as well as system maintenance instruments (registry cleaner, file shredder, duplicate finder, disk defragmenter, PC cleanup), a backup tool, parental control, privacy control, vulnerability check and a game/laptop mode.

Softpedia will provide the kit of the third beta of the suite as soon as BitDefender issues it.

UPDATE: The kit for the third beta of BitDefender Total Security is out and available for download from Softpedia.
