Expect it to be somewhat cheaper than other LGA 2011 motherboard

Biostar has accustomed us with its fairly cheap but otherwise powerful motherboards and the launch of Intel's LGA 2011 platform will be no exception to this rule as the company is preparing to release the TPower X79 board.

Biostar's upcoming creation will use the company's now traditional black and red color scheme and includes all the features one would come to expect from a high-end motherboard, including AMD CrossFireX and Nvidia SLI support.

Power is delivered to the TPower X79 through a pair of 8-pin plugs situated to the right side of the PCB, while an additional MOLEX plug is placed right near the first PCI Express x16 slot in order to deliver some extra juice to the installed graphics card(s).

Speaking, of the PCI Express x16 slots, Biostar's creation comes with three such sockets, two color coded red and one white.

We don't know what are the exact differences between the three but we can assume that the red ones have 16 PCIe lanes routed to them while the third is limited at supporting x8 speeds.

The rest of the expansion slots include a pair of PCI Express x1 slots, a single 32-bit legacy PCI slot and seven SATA ports, with at least two of them featuring 6Gbps support.

Moving to the back of the TPower X79, we get to see that Biostar has included all the ports and connectors one would expect from an LGA 2011 board, including six USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA connector, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1-channel audio with optical and coaxial S/PDIF out.

The pictures supplied by VR-Zone also reveal the presence of an USB 3.0 on-board header for installing two additional such ports.

These are placed right near a series of Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons as well as near an POST80 debug LED display.

Sadly, Biostar hasn't provided us with any information regarding the release date or the price of the TPower X79, but given the company's history this is expected to be somewhat cheaper than other LGA 2011 motherboards.
