Like so many other makers of mainboards, Biostar has joined the club of providers of Z86 motherboards which, have brought to bear their respective iterations of the new computer platform.

The extent of features and functionality that a motherboard is supposed to have is something that was determined a long time ago.

Granted, some things have been added and removed over the years, but the overall concept has stayed the same.

Basically, motherboards are the foundations of PCs, expected to not just offer CPUs a place to use their abilities, but to do the same for memory, storage and add-in-boards, while managing some peripherals.

All this, along with providing connectivity and I/O options, is perfectly covered by the newest motherboard that Biostar has put together.

Dubbed TZ68A+, it features the Intel LGA 1155 chipset, meaning that all Sandy Bridge and future Ivy Bridge chips are supported.

Apparently, it is aimed at the higher half of the mainstream market, as well as high-end consumers, what with its 100% solid capacitors and pair of PCI Express x16 slots.

Needless to say, multi-GPU setups can be implemented, so that gamers can really let loose with their enjoyment.

What's more, the LucidLogix Virtu software is supported, this being an application that automatically switches between the integrated and discrete graphics, depending on workload.

Other specifications include four SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, two SATA 6.0 Gbps ones, a pair of USB 3.0 connectors, Gigabit Ethernet, 5.1 channel audio, four DDR3-2200 slots and multiple video outputs (HDMI, DVI and D-Sub).

The price tag was not mentioned, but it shouldn't be too far from the ones that MSI's or Gigabyte's will have.

Finally, as final assets, the Biostar Z68 motherboard comes with a 5-phase power supply design and the exclusive BIO-Remote2 and Charger Booster utilities, as well as the Intel Smart Response Technology (enables SSD like performance with HDD capacity).
