It doesn't need any active cooling and should be good for an HTPC

Mini-ITX systems aren't as widespread as other types, but neither are they all that rare. HTPCs like to use them a lot, and so do barebone nettops and, in rare cases, LAN party gaming rigs. The new model from Biostar should fit such purposes well.

Like other mini-ITX, square motherboards, the Biostar Hi-Fi B85N 3D has two DDR3 memory slots on one edge (16 GB max) and a PCI Express slot on another.

The Hi-Fi B85N 3D also boasts the B85 chipset, which provides the LGA 1150 socket (Haswell Core i7 and Core i5 CPUs).

DVI, VHA and HDMI connectors can be found at the back along with LAN, USB 3.0/2.0 and audio jacks.

There's even the Intel SBA 2.0 (Small Business Advantage) Technology, Intel Rapid Start Technology and Intel Smart Connect Technology. BIO-Remote2 and BIOS Online Update features (for easy management of the system BIOS) are included as well.
