14 DAY TRIAL // Bioknoppix is a Knoppix based Live CD created specially for molecular biologists. Besides using some RAM, Bioknoppix doesn't touch the host computer, being ideal for demonstrations, molecular biology students, workshops, etc.
Bioknoppix is derived from Knoppix 3.3, based on KDE 3.1.4 and is powered by the kernel 2.4.22-xfs.
Applications included:
￭ EMBOSS - a suite where you will find around 100 programs (applications). ￭ Jemboss - a java based interface to EMBOSS. ￭ Artemis - a free genome viewer and annotation tool. ￭ ClustalX - ClustalW multiple sequence alignment program GUI. ￭ Cn3D - a helper application for your web browser that allows you to view 3-dimensional structures from NCBI's Entrez retrieval service. ￭ ImageJ - a public domain Java image processing program inspired by NIH Image for the Macintosh. ￭ BioPython - an international association of developers of freely available Python tools for computational molecular biology. ￭ Rasmol - a free program which displays molecular structure. ￭ Bioperl - a tookit of perl modules useful in building bioinformatics solutions in perl. ￭ Bioconductor - an open source and open development software project to provide tools for the analysis and comprehension of genomic data (bioinformatics).
