The development team at BioWare working on Dragon Age: Inquisition has already confirmed that Varric will be one of the characters that gamers can recruit for their party in the upcoming role-playing title and the studio is now ready to offer more details on the way he has changed since the previous installment in the series.

Mark Kirby, one of the developers working on the title, tells the official site that the character is still influenced by the interrogation he has gone through with Cassandra and its consequences.

He explains that, "in Inquisition, he's still answering a lot of pointed questions. If he hadn't already figured this out at the start of his meeting with Cassandra, he's definitely finding out now that sometimes it's not so good to be the guy connected to every part of the story."

Varric is also one of the characters that are in a bad situation, away from home, forced to battle demons that he does not understand and lacking any solid friends.

Kirby adds, "Thedas knows him primarily as a storyteller, but Varric is first and foremost extremely loyal. He tells stories to rewrite events he's lived through and make them less senseless, the people in them more inspirational, and to drag some meaning out of the mess that surrounds people he cares about. It doesn't always work. But at least he's turned Cassandra into a Hawke fan. That's something."

Varric will also continue to wield his special crossbow, named Bianca, and, while his enthusiasm for combat is limited, he can contribute to the party from the backline, taking out enemies at range and supporting the frontline fighters.

The developer also teases fans about a game of Wicked Grace that will take place in Dragon Age: Inquisition and will involve Varric.

BioWare has said that some of the characters from the previous two titles in the series will return for the third one and it seems that fan favorite Alistair will also play a role, although no details have been offered about his involvement.

The new Dragon Age takes gamers to Orlais as they try to close a breach in the Veil that is allowing Fade demons to pour into the world of humans.

Players will also have to end the conflict between the Mages, the Chantry and the Templars and deal with a number of other side quests.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One on October 7 of this year.
