Greg Zeschuk shares his thoughts

The PlayStation 3 is one of the most complicated consoles currently on the market as, although it has the biggest number of features and many aces up its sleeve, its high price tag and still relatively low number of blockbuster exclusives make it inferior in terms of user base, as opposed to its rivals, the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

This is the main reason why many people have kept on militating for a PlayStation 3 price cut for quite some time. In an effort to convince Sony that it should implement it as soon as possible, Activision boss Bobby Kotick has gone as far as threatening to drop support for the platform next year if things are not settled and the console made more attractive.

Now, Bioware co-founder Greg Zeschuk, has talked about the statement war, cataloging Activision's threat as being silly as the PlayStation 3 can't be dismissed just yet out of the console war, even though its numbers aren't as impressive as those experienced by its rivals, especially the Wii.

“I don't think it's really fair to poke fun at Sony,” Zeschuk says. “Certainly the Wii's been a massive success and Sony's probably not going as fast as they thought it would be but I think that they're starting to make the right moves and the software's coming along. I think it's silly to be saying you're not going to support Sony. The brand itself is still huge and there are millions of users out there.”

Sony CEO Howard Stringer says that statements such as Kotick's are all part of the industry and that his company has its own type of plan for the future of the PlayStation 3. It seems that, even though the words from Activision made quite an echo, a price cut still won't be made just yet. Only time will tell though when we can drop less cash for Sony's big black box.
