Ever since BioWare was bought by Electronic Arts a number of long term fans have talked about how the developer will be forced to create the game that the publisher is interested in and will need to give up all its creative freedom.

But speaking to Eurogamer Greg Zeschuk, who is one of the co-founders of BioWare, has said, “We still have huge autonomy in terms of what we do. We’re not being forced to do anything or told to do anything. We make the decisions. We take input.”

Both the leaders of BioWare, who are now also leading executives at Electronic Arts, have said that their studio is not answering to the publisher and is concerned with making the best games possible and experiences that satisfy their fans.

Ray Muzyka added, “We’re responsible for the quality of the content and games we release, and we’re committed to try and always take feedback really seriously from our fans and be humble about how we take it – use it to make the next games better.”

He says that the studio is aware that any good will it has acquired over the years will only last until it delivers a bad game and is working hard to make sure that they actually exceed the expectations with upcoming games like Mass Effect 3 and the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

BioWare has managed to launch two new big franchises lately, conquering the science fiction space with Mass Effect and the fantasy genre with Dragon Age.

The company is set to launch Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO just before Christmas this year, after quite a long wait, with the stated aim of revolutionizing the experience that players expect from such a game.

Mass Effect 3 is currently slated for early 2012.
