Dragon Age II launched earlier this year and got pretty good reviews despite having some issues, and developer BioWare is apparently already working flat out on the development of the third game in its fantasy role-playing series.

Alistair McNally, who is the senior director of creative development working at BioWare, has posted a message on Twitter which reads, “I'm looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on #DragonAge3 #gamejobs #jobs #3D #artists”.

The wording of the message suggests that initial work on Dragon Age III has been done already and that the team is prepared to begin fleshing out the world, which requires environmental artists that will apparently work in Edmonton.

BioWare has a history of working on sequels even before the first game in a series is launched, the aim being of delivering games at closer intervals, in order to keep fans satisfied in the long term.

Mike Laidlaw, who was the leading designer working on Dragon Age II, said that, when Origins was launched, the core concepts for the sequel had already been done and the team was ready to start creating art assets and to begin audio recordings for the game.

Dragon Age uses a whole new fantasy universe that was well received by gamers even though BioWare streamlined a lot of the role-playing game elements which made its Baldur's Gate and its Neverwinter Nights franchises.

Dragon Age II moved the story to a single city and made the fighting simpler and quicker, leading some fans of Origins to express their disappointment with BioWare.

Still the game managed to sell very well during March in the United States and BioWare has suggested that overall sales are better than those of Origins.

Dragon Age is, along with Mass Effect, the biggest series that BioWare is working on.
