Leaked version is worse than what the team has internally

An early script for Mass Effect 3 was leaked but the developers do not seem to be too worried about the incident and say that long term fans of the franchise should avoid it in order to make sure that they get the full experience when the game is released.

Ray Muzyka, who is one of the co-founders of BioWare, told Eurogamer that, “We listen to our fans all of the time. We listen to them on the forums, their feedback from stories. We’re reading it all. If we can get ideas out of it that will make the game better, sure. We’re not adverse to taking feedback.”

The developer says that even before a script for Mass Effect 3 was leaked during October the writers at BioWare have made significant changes to it and even more editing has been made since then.

He says that game development is intertwined with script writing and that the gameplay designers and the narrative creators are always bouncing ideas off one another and try to create a better game with a deeper story.

Muzyka added, “What I would suggest to the fans is, we’re going to make sure we deliver an awesome experience as we have in prior Mass Effect games. Don’t spoil the story. The fun of the story is uncovering things and exploring and finding new points to adventure in. I hope they don’t lose that joy of discovery.”

The BioWare executive also believes that the game experience, which mixes the story with graphics, gameplay, voice acting, cannot be replicated by simply reading the words of a page or a screen.

Mass Effect 3 will show Commander Shepard trying to gather allies to repeal the Reaper invasion of Earth.

The game will be launched in early March 2012 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
