The newly minted Day for Night Games will continue exploring twisted storylines

It's hard to believe that it's already been four months since the news that Irrational Games would be shutting down came out, but the ashes of the former studio are apparently already spawning new creations.

Some veterans from the BioShock and System Shock studio have banded together and created a new place to channel their creative mojo through, in the form of Day for Night Games, as Polygon reports.

The new studio has been founded by some stars of Irrational Games, such as Joe Fielder, who wrote the Burial at Sea downloadable content pack, Robb Waters, the artist responsible for the creation of Andrew Ryan, Sander Cohen, the splicers, Songbird and the creepy Boys of Silence, and Chad King, senior environment artist for BioShock, BioShock: Infinite and Burial at Sea.

The newly formed developer's first title will be The Black Glove, a narrative-oriented game that casts players in the role of a performance artist that works out of a theater called The Equinox, where they will use their powers to travel back through time in order to improve the quality of the performance they already delivered.

In case that sounds a bit crazy, well, it's because it is, as the game will experiment with such mind-bending concepts, as the theater itself is described as being able to exist in the past, present and future at the same time.

As can be easily concluded, altering the past has an effect on the game's narrative, as well as on the world in which The Black Glove takes place. The developers have expressed their desire to experiment with the same kind of twisted narrative and the same kind of crazy, dark worlds, and as such the upcoming title will borrow the tone of the gloomy BioShock titles.

"There are certain games of skill and chance that allow us to interact with what you might call fourth-dimensional space. The goal is to satisfy the whims of the creator, the critic and the crowd. You're trying to improve the use of these creators' works in the present by changing their past," Fielder says.

Characters will offer hints to how players might accomplish their goals, and it will be the player's mission to interpret the hints and experiment in order to get interesting results.

"You'll have all these different sites to see, wonders to behold. There'll be large changes to the narrative and to the world around you," Fielder adds.

The Black Glove has been announced ahead of its Kickstarter campaign, scheduled to drop sometime in July, when the entire thing will be revealed, along with the customary presentation video. Until then, we'll be patiently waiting, as the team has yet to reveal details regarding platforms and actual gameplay mechanics.

"I think that games like Gone Home and The Stanley Parable and other games in the last year have really opened the door for what you can do for narrative-focused games. I think it's a really interesting space to explore," Fielding concludes.
