Bioshock was the critical success of last year and it only seems natural to be totally excited when it comes to the plans the developers of the game have for the future. And it seems that these plans are exactly what gamers want to get, since Ken Levine, 2K Boston head, said that the development team was not planning to just update a franchise by producing a sequel - they want to do something "very, very different."

Speaking with website GamesIndustry, Levine said that the company was completely drained by the work invested in the development of BioShock and that they were not going to produce a Bioshock 2. According to him, the team members met to discuss their future projects and decided to "swing for the fences" again.

"And we went to the company and said that, and they said 'Alright, let's do that.' I think that's why we work together, because we trust each other that we'll be there when we need that support, but also talked down when we're talking crazy. And that's really important when you are swinging for the fences..." Levine said.

He continued by stating that, even though he couldn't reveal anything concrete at the moment, the team's goal was to deliver something very, very different and they would be aggressive. That's not too much, seeing as how most of the games are aggressive, right? Although they might be working on a redefinition of the term, which would be completely awesome! However, we shouldn't start guessing right now, even though Levine did hint at what he was looking at:

"I actually can't talk about [the new project], without talking about the game itself," he said. "There are things related to story, gameplay and... I don't know how to describe it... people's relationship with the game over the long term. That's what we're thinking about, but it's about as clear as I can be."
