Witness Rapture at its peak and its decadence

In case you're quietly waiting for another major Xbox 360 FPS to pop up and rock your day, you should be aware that the famous BioShock will have a follow-up, after all, or so say the latest rumours. We could be dealing with a prequel here, according to sources inside the game's producer, 2K Games, since the events of the second title will take place before the ones from the original game.

BioShock 2 is now in preproduction phase, meaning that we've got a long wait ahead of us, till we'll see a demo, trailer or screenshot of the game. Don't get overexcited, as 2K Games are yet to announce that a prequel to the BioShock hit is coming. The fans of the first title will surely love to find out more about the decadence of Rapture and how it all started. There's even a (rumored) launch date for this prequel, summer 2009, kind of vague if you ask me, but still reason enough to have us drooling for trailers.

There are more good news coming, as BioShock seems to be turning into a series, with a title released every 2 years, as Take-Two had mentioned previously. The same inside sources claim that 2K Games are focused more on graphics and plot at the moment, leaving the rest of the development for later. Seems that we'll find out how Rapture, the ideal underwater colony of the '40s was turned from a dream into a nightmare.

Honestly speaking, I could have seen a prequel (or more) coming specially if you take into account the way that BioShock ended (not telling you, though). I'm really curios to see how 2K are going to end BioShock 2, specially since we already know what's coming. Designing a plot for a prequel that still surprises gamers is the work of a master of storylines or a person with rich imagination, and 2K's developers have plenty.
