Bing has donated in excess of $350,000 to schools in need in a campaign that it launched in November 2010 in partnership with Donorschoose.org. The initiative is now wrapped up since it was intended to last only until the end of 2010, with Microsoft drawing the line, and assessing the results of Bing Gives.

“In the two months since the Bing Gives campaign began, you and thousands of others have helped contribute $353,583 to Donorschoose.org projects all across the United States,” a member of the Bing team stated.

The Redmond company even published a post illustrating some of the Donorschoose.org projects that received money resulted from the donations of the Bing Gives campaign.

According to the software giant, kids and teachers in schools across the US associated with over 3,100 projects benefited from the Microsoft’s financial support as long as users got involved.

“Without a doubt, it's a lot of money that will go to classes, teachers, and students in need. But what does that need look like? What is the money you've helped donate going to?,” the Bing team representative asked.

Of course, users that remember the launch of the campaign also know that Microsoft had bigger plans than just $353,583.

In fact, the company was aiming to hand out over $1 million to schools in need across the United States.

This is the main reason why the campaign for which Microsoft collaborated with Donorschoose.org was dubbed “The Bing One Million Dollar Giving Challenge.”

Users were invited to help Microsoft donate $1 to Donorschoose.org with just a click or receive a $5 donation code that they could direct as they wanted to by making Bing their home page.
