Chillingo, an important games publisher for various platforms, has just announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with developer Biodroid, an iPhone development team, to publish Billabong Surf Trip. The game is an arcade-simulation surfing game and will be compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices

The game's environment is set throughout the world’s best surfing destinations and is based on the experiences of Billabong’s top professional surfers Andy Irons, Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson and Tiago Pires.

The above mentioned surfers are also ambassadors for the game and will gladly share helpful tips on how to rip and get tubed on waves for maximum performance.

“We’re proud to bring the first licensed surfing game to the App Store, delivering an immersive experience to surfing enthusiasts and newcomers alike,” explains Johnny Coghlan, Head of Publishing, Chillingo.

“The adrenaline rush of paddling out and executing over 20 maneuver combinations including snaps and cut backs, along with catching air and negotiating through ground swells and barreling waves will really excite gamers seeking fast-paced fun at their fingertips,” added Coghlan .

Billabong Surf Trip tries to combine the simulation style game with an arcade feel, so fans of the sport, either amateurs or professionals will be attracted by the game.

“We worked closely with Billabong and its Professional Surfers to ensure that the game mechanics mirrored what is experienced in reality,” states Ricardo Flores, of Biodroid.

“Every detail from the types of heart-stopping waves found at various surfing locations to the range of maneuvers players can try is the same as what can actually be done in the sport,” added Flores.

Billabong Surf Trip for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices should be available on the App Store this Fall for a price that will be disclose in the near future.
