The winner of the Forbes' Richest American Top 400 is none other than Bill Gates. In fact, he has been number one for 11 consecutive years.

Bill Gates' fortune is appraised at $51 billion, which gives him a clear advantage over the second place, Warren Edward Buffett, president of Berkshire Hathaway, who is $10 billion poorer.

Paul Allen, Bill Gates's friend, is on the third place, with only $22.5 billion, while Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, is on the third place with $14 billion.

IT and Walmart dominate the first 10 positions. Among the IT billionaires there are also Michael Dell, who occupies the fourth position with $18 billion, and Lawrence Ellison, Oracle's CEO, who owns only $17 billion.

Google's founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, occupy the 16th position with $11 billion each. Jeffrey P Bezos, Amazon's president is on the 42nd position and Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO, on the 52nd.

Steve Jobs, Apple's and Pixar's CEO, is also present in the top, but on the 67th position with $3 billion.
