A new video published on YouTube and displaying a Portland bike ride attracted an important number of viewers in a short period of time. The clip was recorded in the west side of Portland on some dangerous hills avoided by most of the bikers. James Thomas recorded the 9 minute clip that currently has 2.414 views, 3 comments and was selected as favorite by 7 users. According to OregonLive, the Portland doctor took part in the 42 mile race among almost 100 cyclists on some dangerous hills in the west site of the city.

"It's the only time I have ever gone home and gone to sleep. It's one of the hardest rides I have ever done. I am impressed. If I had made a documentary video and tried to show it in a theater, I certainly wouldn't get that many hits. It's quite fun to see 1,200 hits in one 24-hour period," the doctor said for the same publication.

As you can see, YouTube tends to become a phenomenon among Internet users because more and more users are lured to record their own videos and upload them on the Google product. Now, it is an efficient way to promote your story and attract media's attention. In the past, there were a lot of similar cases, YouTube being regarded as a really helpful tool.

Take the example of a woman fighting against leukemia who urgently needed a matching bone marrow. Because it was the only chance to survive, the woman decided to record a video with her story and upload it on YouTube, the clip attracting a huge number of viewers. Most of them were impressed and posted numerous comments but she managed to find a donor in Denmark, the YouTube user saving her life.
