Personal Communications Devices has introduced Bigstream, a wireless streaming accessory solution for iOS-powered Apple devices, the company announced in a report. The solution facilitates streaming of both audio and video, much like Apple’s own Airplay technology, and extends the experience to apps on the TV screen.

A leading provider of wireless devices and accessories to service providers in North and South America for more than 25 years, Personal Communications Devices recently confirmed the upcoming availability of Bigstream, “a portable wireless accessory that liberates content from the small screen on iDevices.”

Basically, what Bigstream does is it enables users to stream audio and video content from an iPad, iPhone or iPod to a television set, but without the need of Apple’s AirPlay function, as well as without the Apple TV set-top box.

“Bigstream is quick and easy to set-up and small enough to bring with you wherever you go. Users can view movies, home videos, photo slideshows, business presentations and more on a big screen, enhancing the user experience and allowing content to be shared,” the company that produces the accessory explains.

Bigstream was recently awarded LAPTOP Magazine’s “Best of CTIA Fall 2010,” said PCD, as it also supports numerous applications both native to iDevices and from 3rd parties, provided that the app is has some form of TV out support.

Currently, apps that support PCD’s Bigstream include Videos (iPad native), Photos (common to all iOS portables), YouTube (common to all iOS portables), iPod (common to all iOS portables), and third-party apps including Netflix, Keynote, Chopper 2, and Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket To-Go.

According to PCD, more apps are becoming available all the time. The list can be watched here, as it grows.

“Now you can take pictures and video stored on your Apple device and wirelessly stream them in real time on your TV to share with family and friends,” said Joe Cufari, chief marketing officer of PCD. “Bigstream allows everyone in the room to enjoy content without the need to huddle around the host device. ”
