OCZ just launched its brand-new memory kit designed for laptops, but this kit is unlike the previous ones, it is bigger and faster too, being aimed at the computer enthusiast running Microsoft Windows Vista on his laptop. Built around the DDR2 technology, this memory kit has an optimal frequency of 800MHz (also known as PC2-6400, where 2 denotes the DDR2 technology) and timings between 5 and 15 (quite low, if we consider the frequency). Being built for laptops, these memory kits are not the regular DIMM format, but they are SODIMM-compliant.

Some of the main features of these memory kits are: 800MHz DDR2, CL 5-5-5-15, unbuffered memory, needed voltage is 1.8V, lifetime warranty. There are several sizes to choose from as OCZ started shipping them in the following sizes: 1GB, 2GB, 2GB kit and 4GB kit.

OCZ launched these kits for users who need both high capacity and good memory performance from their laptops. According to NordicHardware, OCZ declared "System memory is the fastest storage medium for data in any computer system. Higher capacity RAM can be used to largely bypass hard disc accesses for scratch and page files, and this dramatically speeds up the operation of any computer system. The new 800MHz line of 2GB SODIMMs or 4GB kits push laptops to the limit of any 32-bit operating system to unleash their maximum performance." In another statement, OCZ reported that laptop memory kits "are built to provide optimal levels of compatibility using the highest quality components available." What I personally like most about OCZ memories is that they are guaranteed for life, at the very least I would not need to change the entire hardware platform just because of a damaged and old memory module.
