Staff at the Calgary Zoo are seriously considering moving some of their big cats to the big house. The Zoo and its surrounding areas have recently been hit by floods, and some believe that the animals would be safest locked inside holding cells at the Calgary Court Center.

Sources say that, for the time being, employees of this animal sanctuary have settled for moving the animals whose enclosures are flooded to higher grounds.

Evacuating them altogether is still viewed as a last resort.

“The courthouse remains a contingency plan for the big cats if they need to be evacuated,” a spokesperson for the Zoo told members of the press.

The big cats that might find themselves spending a few nights behind bars are four lions, two snow leopards and six tigers.

Three of the tigers are rather young, meaning that they are just now reaching maturity.
