Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are one of the "it" couples of the moment, at least in terms of media exposure. Praised by many and ridiculed by some, the two musicians' relationship and subsequent marriage two weeks ago has brought their personal lives into a much sharper focus than ever before. In short, their popularity as a couple has been growing constantly ever since news of their engagement first emerged, with people demanding to know more about what lies beyond the statements of their PR teams, beyond the pompousness of Ashlee's father and Pete's iron-straightened hair. Ashlee and Pete dated for a year and a half prior to their wedding and their relationship turned out to be sufficiently goth, rock-punk and colorful (literally) to make us want to know more about them - particularly about their "Alice in Wonderland" themed wedding and Ashlee's (finally confirmed) pregnancy.

Although their relationship debuted in late 2006, Ashlee and Pete didn't begin to acknowledge it until mid-2007, when Wentz spoke to In Touch magazine and stated that "I have never met somebody who makes me feel the way she [Ashlee] makes me feel". Rumors of a possible engagement dogged the couple ever since Ashlee was spotted wearing what she referred to as a "promise ring" from Wentz. However, the two singers officially confirmed their engagement on April 9th this year. Less than a week later, both Us Weekly and OK! magazine reported that Simpson was pregnant, something that Pete quickly denied.

Amid a flurry of rumors and no official confirmation of Ashlee's pregnancy, the couple announced their plans to get married as soon as possible. The wedding took place on May 17th, less than two months after their engagement was made public, and almost ten days later, the couple confirmed via Fall Out Boy's official website what had become one of Hollywood's worst-kept secrets - namely, that they are expecting a baby together. "While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family", their statement reads.

Ashlee and Pete's wedding theme was Alice in Wonderland, in a tribute to the couple's pop punk and rock roots and their somehow similar dress and hair style - which is slightly dark, with "emo" undertones of dark hair, use of dark eyeliner and a matching wardrobe of skinny jeans, trainers and tight emblazoned T-shirts. The non-denominational ceremony took place at Ashlee's parents Joe and Tina Simpson's property in Encino, California. It was presided over by Ashlee's father Joe, while the bride's older sister Jessica served as bridesmaid. The freshly married couple had about 150 guests, (including Nicole Richie and Joel Madden) who all wore dark colors, at the couple's request.

The wedding reception took place in white tents set up in the back yard of Ashlee's parents' property, which were decorated with white couches with red pillows, black rugs and chandeliers and many red roses. The wedding cake was also Wonderland-inspired, decorated with a top hat, teapot, stopwatch and a pot of flowers on top, as well as elaborate centerpieces with black beautiful roses. After the ceremony, the bride changed in a "black party dress" according to E!. The couple spent their honeymoon soaking up the sun in the Caribbean and returned to New York a few days ago, prior to the official confirmation of Ashlee's pregnancy. Stay tuned for more news on the two musicians' love story and Ashlee's pregnancy.
